അഫ്ഗാനിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ സാമൂഹികാവസ്ഥയിൽ പ്രതികരണം: പാലക്കാട് സ്വദേശിയായ ട്രാവൽ വ്ലോഗറുടെ പരാമർശം വലിയ ചർച്ചയാകുന്നു.
കോഴിക്കോട്: അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ സാമൂഹികാവസ്ഥയെക്കുറിച്ച് ട്രാവൽ വ്ലോഗറായ അരുണിമ ഐ. പി. നടത്തിയ പരാമർശങ്ങൾ സോഷ്യൽ മീഡിയയിൽ വലിയ ചർച്ചകൾക്ക് തിരികൊളുത്തി. അരുണിമ രാജ്യത്ത് അനുഭവിച്ച കാര്യങ്ങളെ ഇസ്ലാമുമായി സമീകരിക്കാൻ കഴിയില്ലെന്ന് വ്യക്തമാക്കി പ്രമുഖ ഇസ്ലാമിക പണ്ഡിതൻ എം. എം. അക്ബർ അടക്കമുള്ളവർ രംഗത്തെത്തി.
‘ആറു വർഷമായി ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് ലോകം ചുറ്റുന്ന സഞ്ചാരി’ എന്ന് സ്വയം വിശേഷിപ്പിക്കുന്ന അരുണിമ, അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ സ്ത്രീകളുടെ ജീവിതം അനുഭവിച്ചറിഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ജീവിതത്തിൽ ആദ്യമായി ഒരു സ്ത്രീയായി ജനിച്ചതിൽ ഖേദം തോന്നിയതായി ഫേസ്ബുക്ക് പോസ്റ്റിൽ കുറിച്ചു. “ആ രാജ്യത്ത് സ്ത്രീകൾക്ക് യാതൊരു മൂല്യവുമില്ല,” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
തുടക്കത്തിൽ ഒറ്റയ്ക്കുള്ള യാത്രയ്ക്ക് ഇമിഗ്രേഷൻ ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥർ അനുമതി നൽകാൻ വിസമ്മതിച്ചെന്നും, ശരീരം മുഴുവൻ മൂടുന്ന വസ്ത്രം ധരിക്കാൻ ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടെന്നും അരുണിമ വ്യക്തമാക്കുന്നു. “അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലൂടെ ഒറ്റയ്ക്ക് യാത്ര ചെയ്യുക എന്നത് എന്റെ വലിയ ഒരു സ്വപ്നമായിരുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ എനിക്ക് ഖേദം തോന്നുന്നു,” അവർ പറഞ്ഞു. തന്റെ പരാമർശങ്ങൾ കേരളത്തിലെ പലരെയും വിഷമിപ്പിച്ചേക്കാം, എന്നാൽ തനിക്ക് അവിടെ അനുഭവപ്പെട്ട ശ്വാസം മുട്ടൽ തുറന്നുപറയേണ്ടതുണ്ടെന്നും പാലക്കാട് ഒറ്റപ്പാലം സ്വദേശിയായ അരുണിമ കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.

അരുണിമയുടെ പോസ്റ്റുകളോട് പ്രതികരിച്ച എം. എം. അക്ബർ, അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാൻ എന്നാൽ ഇസ്ലാമല്ലെന്നും അവിടുത്തെ ഭരണകൂടത്തിന്റെ നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങൾ ഇസ്ലാമിനെ പൂർണ്ണമായി പ്രതിഫലിപ്പിക്കുന്നില്ലെന്നും വ്യക്തമാക്കി. “ലോകത്തിന്റെ വിവിധ ഭാഗങ്ങളിലേക്ക് യാത്ര ചെയ്ത വ്യക്തിയാണ് താങ്കൾ, ഇസ്ലാം ഭൂരിപക്ഷമുള്ള മറ്റ് രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും താങ്കൾ പോയിട്ടുണ്ടായിരിക്കും,” എന്ന് ഫേസ്ബുക്കിൽ എഴുതിയ കുറിപ്പിൽ അക്ബർ ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി. അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങൾ അവിടുത്തെ രാഷ്ട്രീയ, സാമൂഹിക സാഹചര്യങ്ങൾ മൂലമാണോ എന്ന് പരിശോധിക്കാൻ അദ്ദേഹം അരുണിമയോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടു. “അഫ്ഗാനിസ്ഥാനിലെ ചില നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങൾ മനസ്സിലാക്കുമ്പോൾ അവിടുത്തെ ഗോത്ര സംസ്കാരവും പഷ്തൂൺ സാമൂഹിക ആചാരങ്ങളും കണക്കിലെടുക്കണം. പല സമൂഹങ്ങളിലും മതവിശ്വാസവും പ്രാദേശിക സംസ്കാരങ്ങളും തമ്മിൽ കലർന്നിട്ടുണ്ട്.” അതിനാൽ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക സാമൂഹിക ആചാര ചൂണ്ടിക്കാട്ടി ‘ഇതാണ് ഇസ്ലാം’ എന്ന് പറയുന്നത് ശരിയല്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം കൂട്ടിച്ചേർത്തു.
കോടിക്കണക്കിന് മുസ്ലീങ്ങൾ വിവിധ രാജ്യങ്ങളിലും വ്യത്യസ്ത സാമൂഹിക, രാഷ്ട്രീയ സംവിധാനങ്ങളിലുമാണ് ജീവിക്കുന്നതെന്ന് അക്ബർ പറഞ്ഞു. “വസ്ത്രധാരണം, തൊഴിൽ, യാത്ര, സാമൂഹിക പങ്കാളിത്തം എന്നിവയിൽ മുസ്ലീം ഭൂരിപക്ഷ രാജ്യങ്ങളിൽ പോലും വ്യത്യാസങ്ങളുണ്ട്,” ഒരു പ്രത്യേക രാജ്യത്തെ നിയന്ത്രണങ്ങളുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഇസ്ലാമിനെക്കുറിച്ച് ഒരു നിഗമനത്തിലെത്തുന്നത് ശരിയല്ലെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം വ്യക്തമാക്കി.
ഇതിന് മറുപടിയായി, താൻ ഒരു പ്രത്യേക മതത്തെ എതിർക്കുന്നതായി പറഞ്ഞിട്ടില്ലെന്ന് അരുണിമ വ്യക്തമാക്കി. “യാതൊരു മതവും പ്രചരിപ്പിക്കാത്ത രാജ്യങ്ങളിലാണ് സന്തോഷവും സമാധാനവും കൂടുതൽ നിലനിൽക്കുകയെന്ന് താൻ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു,” എന്ന് അവർ പറഞ്ഞു.
Palakkad Travel Vlogger’s Remarks on Social Status of Afghan Women Spark Debate
KOZHIKODE: Remarks made by travel vlogger Arunima I P on the status of women in Afghanistan have sparked a heated online debate, with Islamic scholars, including M M Akbar, clarifying that her experiences in the country cannot be equated with Islam.
In a Facebook post, Arunima, who describes herself as a “solo traveller exploring the world for six years,” shared that witnessing the lives of Afghan women made her regret being a woman for the first time in her life, stating that “women are not valued in the country.”
She noted that immigration officials initially hesitated to clear her solo travel and instructed her to wear attire covering her entire body. “It was my dream to travel through Afghanistan alone, but now I feel regret,” said Arunima, a native of Ottapalam in Palakkad, adding that while her comments might upset people in Kerala, she felt compelled to express the sense of suffocation she experienced.
In a subsequent post, Arunima mentioned that she was permitted to wear clothes revealing her face only because she was a foreigner, adding, “Here [in Afghanistan], local women are not allowed to show their faces beyond their eyes.”
Reacting to her posts, M M Akbar stated on Facebook that Afghanistan does not represent Islam and its governance does not fully reflect Islamic principles. He urged her to consider whether the restrictions stem from the country’s unique political and social conditions, adding, “Tribal culture and Pashtun social customs should be taken into account when understanding certain restrictions in Afghanistan. Religious faith and local cultures intermingle in many societies.” Thus, pointing to a specific local tradition to claim ‘this is Islam’ is incorrect, he emphasized.
Akbar noted that crores of Muslims live across diverse nations under varied political systems, pointing out differences in dress, profession, and social participation even among Muslim-majority countries. He concluded that judging Islam based on one country’s restrictions is flawed.
In response, Arunima clarified that she had not expressed dislike for any specific religion, adding, “I believe that happiness and peace prevail better in countries that do not propagate any religion.”
